Sherry is a fortified wine made from white grapes that are grown near the town of Jerez, Spain. In Spanish, it is called vino de Jerez.

雪莉是壹種比較濃的葡萄酒,產於西班牙的雪莉鎮附近,在西班牙語裏面叫做vino de Jerez.

The word "sherry" is an anglicization of Jerez. In earlier times, sherry was known as sack (from the Spanish saca, meaning "a removal from the solera"). "Sherry" is a protected designation of origin since 1933; therefore, all wine labeled as "sherry" must legally come from the Sherry Triangle, which is an area in the province of Cádiz . Jerez到了英文裏就變成Sherry,本來在西班牙語裏面的大概意思就是註滿陽光的酒,"Sherry"這個詞是受產權保護的。從1933年開始啟用,只有來自Cadiz(可迪慈)省的雪莉三角洲的酒才能用sherry這個名字。

After fermentation is complete, sherry is fortified with brandy. Because the fortification takes place after fermentation, most sherries are initially dry, with any sweetness being added later. In contrast, port wine (for example) is fortified halfway through its fermentation, which stops the process so that not all of the sugar is turned into alcohol.

發酵結束後,雪莉再由白蘭地加濃,大多數雪莉開始加入甜味的時候比較澀,不過由白蘭地加濃後可以避免所有的糖分轉化為酒精

Sherry is produced in a variety of styles, ranging from dry, light versions such as finos to darker and heavier versions known as olorosos, all made from the Palomino grape. Sweet dessert wines are also made, from Pedro Ximenez or Moscatel grapes. Sherry is regarded by many wine writers as "underappreciated" and a "neglected wine treasure"

雪莉酒有各種口味,澀的,淡的,甜味餐後酒等等,不過都由帕羅米諾葡萄釀造而成。並且,雪莉被很多酒評論家定義為“被埋沒許久的酒中珍品”

2004年,我在荷蘭海牙酒店管理學院讀書的時候,做過壹個和妳這裏要求幾乎壹樣的Presention演講,今天憑借記憶大致回憶了壹下,盡量免去了壹些幹澀難懂而且發音很難的西班牙地名等專有名詞。便與妳理解和記憶。希望對妳有所幫助。
