1、意思不同
雖然兩者都有”迄今為止“的意思，但so far 有“就範圍或者程度上來說”的意思，until now沒有。
如：After all,the PBOC has so far succeeded in sterilising most of the increase in reserves.（畢竟,中國人民銀行已經成功地沖銷了外匯儲備增長中的大部分。）
2、所用時態不同
so far要用現在完成時態，until now可以用在現在完成時，壹般過去式和過去完成時。
so far:
What have you found so far?
妳到目前為止發現了什麽？
until now:
1、現在完成時：
The problem has never really arisen until now.?
這個問題直到現在才真正顯露出來。
2、壹般過去時：
I didn't know it until now.?
今乃知之。
3、過去完成時：
Until now television had fought shy of covering by-elections.?
迄今為止電視臺壹直竭力避免報道補缺選舉。
until now 可以放在句首，多用於表達“迄今為止“。
如：Until now,that is.
但是現在有了。

till now/until now:
當主句是否定句時,它的意思是”直到（某時）（某動作）才（發生）“ 這時候常會出現”not until …“的結構。如果將 ”not until …“的結構放在句首,那麽主句要寫成倒裝句。
此兩個連詞意義相同.肯定形式表示的意思是”做某事直至某時“，動詞必須是延續性的。否定形式表達的意思是”直至某時才做某事“。動詞為延續性或非延續性都可以。正確使用這兩個連詞的關鍵之壹就在於判斷句中的動詞該用肯定式還是否定式。
1、Until可用於句首,而till通常不用於句首.
Until you told me,I had heard nothing of what happened.
直到妳告訴我以前,出了什麽事我壹點也不知道.
2、Until when 疑問句中,until要放在句首。
Until when are you staying?妳呆到什麽時候?
Until next Monday.呆到下周壹。
註意：否定句可用另外兩種句式表示。
3、Not until …在句首,主句用倒裝。
Not until the early years of the 19th century did man know what heat is.
直到19 世紀初,人類才知道熱能是什麽。
Not until I began to work did I realize how much time I had wasted.
直到我開始工作,我才認識到了我已蹉跎了幾多歲月。
